Recently at the HP ISS Quarterly Business Review meeting, Aesbus was recognized for its orderly response and diligence in protecting HP’s ISS documentation projects. HP ISS managers were very impressed with how quickly Aesbus’ Houston office was back up and operational and how quickly and efficiently our teams got back up-to-speed on HP projects despite extensive power outages throughout the entire Greater Houston Area.
The Aesbus Houston office closure came after Houston Mayor Bill White called on area businesses to give employees Friday off to alleviate traffic congestion on the major highways for those leaving the area before Hurricane Ike arrived.
During the hurricane and storm, Aesbus management was in continuous communication with employees via cell phone text messaging, handling inquiries and providing business updates. Internet, network access, and land phone/cell phone services were interrupted by the hurricane, but Aesbus emergency communication processes helped to keep employees informed and abreast of company instructions.
In anticipation of Ike’s landfall and impact on the Greater Houston Area, Aesbus IT — as part of the Aesbus Business Disaster Recovery Plan — backed-up all client project work residing on Aesbus servers. Additionally, many employees made back-up preparations to transfer project work files onto portable storage devices to be able to continue working in case of the Aesbus network being inaccessible.
These plans were very instrumental in allowing Aesbus to mitigate the full impact of Ike on our clients’ work.
As part of our efforts to improve our business emergency response processes, Aesbus will reposition and switch its central communication and network systems to one of our regional branch offices that is not in the disaster area to further safeguard our clients’ projects and product timelines.
A special thanks to all our employees for being the “solid foundation” that our clients have recognized as critical to their business!
